Peggy was a housewife, mother, babysitter and friend to many. She loved going to Mass and attended church every opportunity she could. For many years, she assisted at the church in Lake Manitoba. She later became a traditional pipe carrier and followed her traditional teachings. Peggy loved collecting different items which she treasured. We will miss her voice on NCI - she never missed sending greetings to her family and friends. She loved listening to her taped music which she recorded from the radio and she would always try to win prizes on NCI radio contests. Wake services will be held at 3:00 p.m. at her brother Edwin Edwards residence in Lake Manitoba beginning on Saturday, December 11, 2010. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2010 at St. Theresa Church with Father Michel Nault officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be her nephews, Charles Wood Jr., Tim Edwards, Geoffrey Edwards, Sheldon Monkman, Tracey Spence and Barry Swan Sr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Noel Swan, Kathleen Swan, her in-laws (the Swan family), her family, relatives and friends. Cross bearers will be her grandsons, Blaze Swan and Toby Missyabit. When Peggy relocated to Winnipeg, she met many friends that she became very close to. We want to say thank you to those friends for being there for her and spending time with her. She was so proud to call each and every one of you her friends. Special mention to Jamie Spence, Sheila Richard, Marvin Sumner and Emma Bone-Beagly. The family wishes to acknowledge the others we did not meet, especially her neighbours at 340 Princess. We would like to thank the Dialysis Unit at the Health Sciences Centre for their care over the years and to the Victoria Lifeline staff who responded to her during her time of need. A special thank you to the Winnipeg Police Service, Constables Leschied and Duchominisky who assisted the family at the time of her death. We would also like to thank Lake Manitoba Chief and Council and everyone who showed their support and compassion to the family during our time of need. Your kindness will always be remembered. Your spirit lives on. We will never forget you. MEMORIES Unique as snowflakes Impossible to hold but for a moment Yet when one is gone There is another gliding down Until they become the blanket of protection For Mother Earth to shield Against the storm of loneliness Memories, gentle memories.
