Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAND RICHARD JOSEPH FILLION May 6, 1953 - December 8, 2010 Peacefully and with love surrounding him, Normand Fillion, passed away at the age of 57 years. Norm was predeceased by his parents, Roger Fillion and Thérèse Menard (née Vermette). Dad will forever be remembered. He was a loving father to Jason (Tara), Diane, Jamie (Manon), Jean and Justin. He was Grandpa Donuts to Camry and Karsyn. Norm is survived by Annette Fillion; his sisters, Gisele (Denis), Lynne (Bryan), Carole (Gilles) and Jackie (Brian - deceased). Norm also leaves behind nieces, nephews and many cherished friendships. Norm was born in Altona and spent his first few years in St. Joseph until his family moved to Winnipeg in 1955. Norm attended Red River Community College in 1977 where he earned his Journeyman Certificate as a Bricklayer. Over the years Norm became a very accomplished Bricklayer and was well respected for his talents and amazing work. There was never a job too difficult for Norm to take on. With his legendary work ethic, Norm was able to start his own business in 1990. Norm was always active. He loved cruising on his motorcycle, quading and snowmobiling with his children. Dad was a founding member of, and played in the Winakwa Adult Slo-Pitch league in Windsor Park, where he played for 24 years as a member of the Hookers. Norm enjoyed spending time at his cabin in St. Malo surrounded by his children and many friends. He could not wait to get to the cabin to cut his grass on the riding mower. Each weekend produced countless memories. In February, Norm took the trip of a lifetime to the Dominican Republic with Jamie, Jean and nephew Richard. He reminisced about the trip every day. Through the years, Norm's true passion was always Cribbage. He spent countless hours playing against family and friends, and was the self proclaimed King of Cribbage . Norm was generous, kind, caring, loving and would give the shirt off his own back if you needed it. Dad will be missed by all who knew him. Viewing for Norm will take place at Holy Family Parish, 778 Archibald Street on Wednesday, December 15 at 10:30 a.m. with a celebration of life to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date.
