Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY MOREAU (nee PROCIUK / SKOBLENIUK) With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother and sister, Mary, at the Maples Personal Care Home on December 9, 2010. Mary is survived by her daughter Norma, sons Romeo and Raymond (Mona) and grandchildren Jordon and Alaina. She is also survived by sisters Anne (Bill), Pauline (Joe) and brothers Paul (Sandra), Peter (Tam) and Walter (Pat), sisters-in-law Denise, Irene and Pat, brother-in-law Victor and over 30 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Tony in 1988 and brother Bill in 1990. Mom was born on April 7, 1927, spent her childhood growing up in Sandilands, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in her teen years. As a young adult she was employed in the hotel industry and while working in Somerset, Manitoba met her future husband, Tony. They married in 1951 and raised their family in Somerset. Following Tony's passing in 1988, Mary moved to Winnipeg and for the past four years resided at the Maples Personal Care Home. Mom was a devoted mother who loved her family dearly. She was an excellent cook and prepared many delicious dishes, such as cabbage rolls, perogies, pate, roast beef and baked all kinds of sweet treats, especially cherry and pineapple tarts. At Christmas time, she enjoyed the large gatherings at her home in Somerset with over 30 family members feasting on her home cooking. During the summertime in Somerset, Mom looked forward to the frequent visits with her sisters and brothers and their families. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with the new babies in the family. The family pets, Barney, Benji, Sally and especially Corky always brought a smile to her face. Her favourite hobbies included gardening, tending to her flowers, knitting and other crafts. Mom was a devout Roman Catholic and had an unwavering belief in the Virgin Mary. Despite failing health, Mom kept her keen sense of humour and found ways to enjoy life every day. At the Maples, she was an eager participant in many activities, including bingo, beauty time, listening to entertainers, baking club and attending religious services. Mom was very happy at the Maples as the staff was genuinely interested in her well-being and provided excellent care. The family would like to thank the Maples care providers, in particular, Eleen, Angie and Carol in the kitchen, for their kindness and compassion in looking after our Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary to The Sunshine Fund (c/o Maples Personal Care Home 500 Mandalay Drive, Winnipeg, R2P 1V4). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg. Interment in the Somerset Catholic Cemetery at a later date. To live in the hearts of those you love is not to die. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
