TINA JANTZEN (REDEKOPP) December 25, 1920 December 9, 2010 Tina Jantzen (Redekopp) was born on December 25, 1920 to Nicholai and Katharina Redekopp (Wiebe) in Blumenhof, S. Ukraine. This small family moved to Canada in 1925. Five of Tina's siblings died prior to Tina's birth and two died after she was born. The efforts of the Mennonite Central Committee were instrumental in her surviving imminent death due to lack of food. Seven of her siblings died as infants of malnutrition-related illnesses. Tina's brother Peter was born in 1927 in Plum Coulee, with their sister Sadie joining the family in 1930. Tina went to Winkler Bible School in 1937. She also took sewing courses, and her sewing skills were utilized to sew clothes for her mother, sister, herself and then for her five daughters. Jack and Tina were married on October 6, 1945. Tina was baptized in 1956 in the North Kildonan MB Church. Jack and Tina had eight healthy children in the first 13 years of marriage. To say the least, she was a very busy woman. When the children became a bit more independent, she began attending the ladies meetings at church, and organized a quilting bee for anyone who wanted to participate. Year after year, approximately 100 quilts were made by the church ladies and sent to Mennonite Central Committee to be sent overseas to those people from developing countries needing them. On February 26, 1992, Jack passed away. Tina continued living in their home for seven more years, and then moved into an apartment. In 2002, as her health had deteriorated and she could no longer take care of herself, she went into full time care. The family would like to thank Donwood Manor for the excellent and loving care the staff has given her for all these years. Thank you to the church members at McIvor Ave. MB church for their caring visits and kind words and actions. Thank you also to her many friends and relatives who faithfully visited her over the years. Tina was predeceased by her husband Jack, one foster grandson and her brother Pete, brother-in-law Walter Stobbe, plus many of Jack's family members. She is survived by her children: Ron, Irene (Ed) Lepp, Marlene (Christopher Marson), Carolyn (Arnold) Menaar, Ed (Marianne), Dorothy (Bob) Schapansky, Jane (David) Woelk, Ken, and their families. She is also survived by her sister Sadie Stobbe, sister-in-law Helen, and several of Jack's siblings and in-laws, plus all of her nieces and nephews. Tina leaves a legacy of an accepting attitude regarding difficulties in her life, grace under difficult circumstances, praying without ceasing for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, appreciation for nature, and a profound faith in her Creator. Viewing will take place on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street, Winnipeg. Interment on Saturday, December 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at McIvor Ave. MB Church, 200 McIvor Ave., with a fellowship lunch following the service. If friends and relatives so wish, donations may be made to Donwood Manor, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg or Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Dr., Winnipeg.
