Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANK DAVID DERKSON It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Frank on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 47 years of age. Frank is survived by his mother Marianne, his brother Bill (Stacey), sister Diane Laschuk (Terry) of Ottawa and Uncle Hans Alof (Arleen) of Inwood MB., his nephew Daniel, nieces Tonya (Murray), Kimberlee, all of Winnipeg and Stephanie Laschuk (Kyle) of Ottawa as well as great-niece Livia and many other family members both here in Canada as well as the US and abroad. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Emil Alof in 1971, and Else Alof in 2006. Frank was born on March 18, 1963 in Winnipeg and resided here until his passing. He worked for 30 years at the Health Sciences Centre as a part of the medical records department. Frank was a collector of music and movies and had an extensive knowledge of both. If you needed to know who sang a particular song or what movie a particular line was from Frank could tell you in minutes. He also loved his sports, be it hockey, NFL football or golf. He also in the past 15 years took up the game of golf as a hobby and will be missed by his golfing buddies on the links. Frank recently joined a bowling league at LaVerendrye Lanes in Winnipeg and looked forward to the camaraderie on Wednesday evenings. He was a strong family man and took his mom shopping on Saturdays. These are the things that Frank will be remembered for, his thoughtfulness, his sense of humour and laughter. A special thank you to Reg Cayer for the care and compassion he showed Frank in the last few moments of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank's honour to the Manitoba chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Suite 200, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6 http://www.heartandstroke.mb.ca. A celebration of Frank's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010 in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave., Winnipeg, MB.
