ANNE SENENSKY (nee SAIR) After a brief illness, Anne passed away peacefully at age 89, on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at St. Boniface Hospital with family by her side. She is survived by her adoring and devoted husband of 58 years, Sam; her daughter Jacqui Langdon and husband Tim, son Barry Senensky and girlfriend Cathy, grandchildren Jason Senensky, Lisa Senensky, Sabrina Guentert and husband Gene, and Stacey Hochman and fiance Jeff Corden. Extended family include Michael Langdon, Nicole McLean, and Emma Corden. Anne was predeceased by her parents Sarah and Jacob Sair and by her brothers Alan Sair and Saul Sair, with whom she had a close and loving lifelong bond. Anne worked as a secretary for much her life. She worked at the department of Education for a number of years and also was secretary to Rabbi Shalom Rappaport at Rosh Pina Synagogue. Anne and Sam had a wonderful marriage and shared the common goal of nurturing their children and grandchildren. Anne was a loving mother and baba. Making sure that everyone was well fed, healthy and happy was her mission statement in life. Anne never forgot an important occasion in the lives of her friends and family, always remembering to send a card or a gift. She supported many charities throughout her life and always wanted to help others in any way possible. She and Sam were proud to have put all four of their grandchildren through university. Anne had many long term friendships. During the 1960's and 70's , when she worked alongside her brothers in their drugstore, Sair's pharmacy, she befriended some of the Filipino nurses and doctors who came into the store, and who were new to Winnipeg and lonely for their home far away. Over the years, she became a mother figure to many of them taking them under her wing and into her home. She maintained these relationships throughout her entire life. Anne also enjoyed continually forging new friendships everywhere she went. For the last five and a half years of her life she lived at Amber Meadows Retirement home, the last one and a half years without Sam who has been living at the Maples Personal Care Home. Anne enjoyed many things including regular trips to the casino, playing bridge, reading, playing bingo and listening to music. She particularly loved classical music, and during her nearly five week stay at St. Boniface Hospital, music played non-stop in her room. Her favourite was Andrew Rieu conducting the music of Vienna. Above all, Anne loved to laugh and make other people laugh. Even during her illness, she maintained her sense of humour. When anyone asked her how are you feeling ?, her standard answer was with my hands . Even when she could no longer speak, when asked how are you feeling she would raise her hands. We knew what she meant and we would smile. Anne loved life and she loved people... her family most of all. Family was absolutely everything to her. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank the staff on the Palliative Care Ward at St. Boniface Hospital for their wonderful, compassionate care, as well as the management and staff at Amber Meadows for all of their help and support during mom's illness. Funeral services were held at Congregation Etz Chaim on Monday, December 13. Pallbearers were Jason Senensky, Avrum Senensky, David Senensky, Tim Langdon, Larry Hochman and Jeff Corden.
