Date of Passing: Dec 14, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH MALKIEWICZ Peacefully, on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, left us to be with God, our Father. Joseph has joined his wife, Aniela, in the Eternal Kingdom. Left to celebrate his life are his sister Cesia, who lives in Poland; son Kaz (Barbara); daughter Chris (Gerry); grand-children, Tom (Joanne), Kathy, Trysh (Ted), Tim (Heather), Paula, Laura (Simon), Jana and many great-grandchildren. Born in Eastern Poland on January 19, 1915, Joseph was the second of five children. As with many, the outbreak of the Second World War forced him in a new direction in life. While serving with the Signal Corp in the Polish Forces, Joseph was captured and spent a good portion of the war in a labour camp. After the Second World War, he was reunited with his family in western Poland. Life was not easy and Joseph began looking at what the future held. Driven by his determination to provide a stable future for his family, he immigrated to Canada in 1948 and began working in the gold mines of Quebec. In 1953, he came to Winnipeg and established a base for that stable future he had envisioned. In 1957, the family was once again reunited as he brought his wife Aniela and children, Kaz (Kazimierz) and Chris (Cesia) to Canada. Right until his last days, Joseph's strength and determination were evident and an inspiration to his whole family. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., in the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue, with an Oblate Father presiding. Interment will follow in the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Parish Cemetery, 4387 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Dziadzio... We are very proud and very grateful for the sacrifices you made in your life, so that we could have the life that we do. Although we will miss you terribly, we will always celebrate your life. May God keep you in His care for eternity.
