ESTELLE TINY DIAMOND (nee SMITH) In her home on December 14, 2010 at the age of 81. Tiny Diamond passed after a successful recovery from hip surgery in August. She was born in Winnipeg and was a proud North Ender. She earned her lifelong nickname as the youngest child of Daniel and Rose Smith, growing up in a grand house at 133 Machray Avenue. She was educated at Luxton School, St. John's Tech, United College and Success Business College. In 1951 she married and shared much love with Harold who passed in 1996. Their only child Dan was born in 1954. She is survived by her son, daughter-in-law Carol McLaughlin and Carol's mother Susan, her twin sisters Minnie Shnier and Gertie Matas, sister-in-law Helen Kahane, and brother-in-law Max Shnier as well as by numerous friends old and new, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews on both Diamond and Smith sides. She is preceded by her husband and parents, siblings Art (Selma), Sarah (Dave Jacobson), Max (Claire) and Harry (Ruth). She is also preceded by brother-in-law Max Matas, nephew Michael Smith and, from the Diamond family, parents-in-law Jacob and Sarah, brother-in-laws Lazar Diamond and Maurice Kahane and sister-in-law Fran Diamond. Her sharp wit and love of good friends and a good story will be remembered by all. No one could ever tell her to Curb Your Enthusiasm. Special thanks to next door neighbours Kelly and Kelvin Peters for their valuable friendship and concern. Thanks also for fine care and caring from the staffs at Seven Oaks General Hospital Geriatric Rehab, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Home Care and Riverview Day Hospital. Funeral at 12 noon, Friday, December 17, 2010 at Chesed Shel Emes, 1023 Main Street, Winnipeg followed by graveside at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverview Health Centre, Day Hospital, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3L 2P4 or to The Wright Brothers Education Fund, c/o Portage Credit Union, 19 Royal Road N., Portage la Prairie MB R1N 1T9.
