BARBARA (DORIS) BAIN (nee CRUICKSHANK) February 2, 1916 December 13, 2010 Peacefully, after a lengthy battle with a variety of cancers, Doris entered eternal rest on December 13, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital. Doris was predeceased by her parents (Alex and Millie); husband David; son Murray; son-in-law Gunter; and brother Ralph. Doris is survived by her daughter Heather; daughter-in-law Marian; sister Bernice (John) and their family; grandchildren Kristin, Alexander, Stephanie; great-grandchildren Velorian and Vienna (their father Dan). She is also survived by cousins here in Canada and Scotland. Doris retired in 1979 following a 41-year nursing career at the Victoria General Hospital. Her retirement years were spent travelling, lawn bowling and socializing with family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. T. Buchel, nurse Ruth and the staff of Unit 5 5th floor for all their help and support during this time. Also thanks to the many home care workers that helped Mum over the years. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing one hour prior, at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Pastor Michael Kurtz officiating. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba division for research into finding a cure for cancer.
