Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT LOUIS JOSEPH PICARD October 20, 1955 - December 15, 2010 It is with profound sadness that the family of Louis Picard announces his untimely passing. Louis was surrounded by the comfort and love of many family and friends in his final days, and passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his loving wife and brother Guy by his side. Louis is survived by his wife Veronica; daughters Nicole (Glenn), Danielle (Aaron), and Margot (Everett); step-daughter Carlye (Craig); siblings John (Linda), Germaine (Bob), Guy (Lynne), Giselle (Peter), and Rene (Rose); grandchildren Emily and Dylan; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Louis was known for his love for life, giving nature, and always remembering to do the small things that made people feel special and loved. Louis was born in Snow Lake, Manitoba, moved to Flin Flon in 1956, Thompson in 1959, and settled in Winnipeg in 1966. Louis was one of the best diamond driller helpers ever to go to Flin Flon. He worked in remote locations throughout Northern Manitoba in the late 70's. He was a proud member of the Winnipeg Football Club since 1976, and was never afraid to lecture anybody who said a bad word about the Blue Bombers. Louis went back to school in 1980 and got a diploma at Red River College in Structural Technology. In 1982, Louis was registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist. With three small children at home, Louis received his C.I.M designation in Management and Administration. Louis went on to work for Ernest Hainsch, followed by National Concrete Accessories. During this time he became a member of the Winnipeg Construction Association. Louis started a family in 1981, and was always proud of his three daughters. He found great joy in coming home at the end of the day to give his girls a bath and warm them by the fire. In 1989, Louis bought Lewis Instruments, a local land surveying instrument sales company. Over the years, he continued to support Red River College, Winnipeg Construction Association, Manitoba Heavy Construction, Construction Association of Rural Manitoba, and the Association of Professional Land Surveyors of Manitoba in a variety of ways. Louis met his wife, Veronica, in 2005, and the love they shared was evident to anyone who saw them together. They were married in Scotland on September 12, 2009 on the beautiful shores of Loch Ness. Louis was passionate about life, and everyone that met him became completely engaged in his vibrant personality. He loved BBQing, golfing, curling, playing pool with his boys, camping, and gardening. He also loved to coach baseball, and brought his daughters' team to play in the provincial championships, which they won. Louis will always be remembered fondly. His strength and gentle, caring nature will always be remembered by those who were privileged to know him, and will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew him. We express our deepest appreciation to the amazing staff on ward GD-4 at HSC for their great care, concern, and compassion. Thank you all for your help and kindness during such a difficult time. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, December 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 603 Wellington Crescent. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christy House, or a charity of one's choice. Desjardins Funeral Chapel 233-4949 1-888-233-4949

I will forever miss me and Louis' endless debates on whether The Lions or The Bombers were the better team. Like myself he was a loyal die hard fan of his team and more often than not I lost many a debate in that arena with him. Veronica and him welcomed me into their home many times as a displaced misfit at Christmas and his generosity and concern for my well being was like that of "Favourite Uncle". He wore his love for Vee and His Girls right on his sleeve for all the world to see. Much Love Lisa - Posted by: Lisa Bliss (Family) on: Dec 18, 2010
