JOHN ANTHONY, MD Peacefully at home, on November 5, 2010, at the age of 82, with his niece Sharon holding his hand, our dear sweet Uncle John passed. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on December 30, 1927, John was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Alice Anthony in 2006; his parents, Rose and Peter Antoniw, brothers William (Bill) and Borden and brother-in-law Ernie Bucholz. John will be deeply missed by his sister, Jean Bucholz of Winnipeg, who made sure not a day passed where she didn't talk to him; by his nieces Sharon Assis (Leo) of London, Ontario, Susan Lawrence (Peter) of Calgary, Alberta and Sandy Bucholz-Velikonja of Newmarket, Ontario. Uncle John's favourite people however were his great-nieces and nephews - Gemma and Mark (Calgary) and Evan and Leah (Newmarket) who will miss his kibitzing and joking, stories and smiles... and who were always told every night he saw them love you ! John will also be missed by his many relatives, friends and coworkers. John graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Medicine in 1957. After a short time in North Dakota, he quickly made the move south to California, where he worked in Long Beach for a year before finally hanging his hat in Santa Barbara, California after marrying Alice Bilenky in 1961. Never one to retire, Uncle John spent his final years working in the communities of Lompoc and Santa Maria, California. John loved to travel and spent many vacations where he and Alice, along with good friends from Santa Barbara, trekked the globe. A private celebration of Uncle John's life will be held in Santa Barbara on Saturday, December 18. Interment to follow at a later date.
