Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA TOMYK September 25, 1923 December 16, 2010 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother Olga of Stonewall, MB on December 16, 2010, also affectionately known as Tootsie by her family. Left to mourn her passing are her five children Barry (Merle), Robert (Lynne), June Mckenzie (Glen), Ken (Donna), Lori Grandmont (Philip), ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is now reunited with her husband John who predeceased her March 24, 1998 as well as her two sisters Kay, Anne and brother Norman. Mom was born in Winnipeg and at the age of nine, moved with her family to their Stonewall area farm. Olga met the love of her life John and they married in 1941. They spent 57 years working together building a successful farming business and raising their five children. The farm was always a hub of activity with plenty of family and friends stopping to visit which Mom loved. She was a gracious hostess and could somehow manage to prepare a delicious meal from scratch, entertain guests and milk the cows somewhere in between. Mom was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren and encouraged and supported us in all our endeavours. She had many talents and shared these with us all, including knitted items, ceramic pieces and individualized poems. Mom was involved in many activities in the community, she was a long time member of the Rebecca Lodge, Victoria School Ladies Group and the Rockwood Agricultural Society and won many first place prizes for her canning, baking and sewing. Mom was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling, curling, camping in their motor home and her trips to the casino. In her retirement years she and Dad were fortunate to travel throughout North America and Europe and developed many strong friendships throughout their travels. Our sincere gratitude for the care provided to Mom by Rosewood Lodge staff and her companions Elaine and Francis over the last three and one half years and to her Homecare Attendants while living in Lion's Manor. A memorial service will be held at the Stonewall United Church 369 1st St. N, Stonewall, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2010. Donations can be made to the Parkinson's Society of Manitoba, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements
