ERNEST (ERNIE) H. DANZKER Sadly, we announce the passing of Ernie Danzker, on December 8, 2010 in Rancho Mirage, California. Ernie would have been 89 December 29th. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Clarice, his children Simmie and Larry Nasberg, Lainey Danzker and Michael Werier, and grandchildren Alissa Nasberg, Benji Nasberg, Steven Werier and Nessa Werier, and sisters Miriam Rosenberg and Clara Shefrin. He was predeceased by his siblings Mark, Bill, Alice, Sara Mitchell and Sylvia Kopstein. Ernie was born in Winkler, Manitoba to Harry and Rachel Danzker. He left for Winnipeg at 16 and attended University. In 1962, he opened E.H. Danzker Co Menswear on Albert Street. He loved his work and interactions with his customers. He was a business man, and a family man. His greatest love was his family and he and Clarice had the most joyful and wonderful marriage. Their house was always filled with humour and music. At the age of 60, he retired and they enjoyed years of tennis, golf and bridge, down south and in Winnipeg. Ernie took great care of his family and extended family. He organized tennis tournaments, duplicate bridge groups and bridge games, and played his beloved guitar and sang for the Adult Leisure Group at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. He will always be remembered for the happiness he brought to our lives. He made everyone feel special with a joke or a song. He was a one-of-a-kind guy. Funeral services were held in Winnipeg on December 11, 2010 at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue. Pallbearers were Larry Nasberg, Alissa Nasberg, Benji Nasberg, Michael Werier, Steven Werier and Nessa Werier. Honourary pallbearers were Robert Kopstein, Hart Rosenberg, Mona Sprintz, Myrna Shefrin, Sam Borden, Val Werier and Arnold Popeski. Donations can be made to the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba in his memory or to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • It is with great sadness that we write this note as we've only known "Ernie" next door for a couple of years. His rendition of "You Are My Sunshine" sung so sweetly to Clarice, while he played the guitar, opened up a relationship with a very unique individual. His wit and humour aside (he actually was funny, when Clarice told his jokes) we sensed he was an individual who enjoyed love, life and laughter to the fullest. Clarice, to you and your family, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Vivian and I were fortunate to have known Ernie, he enriched our lives. - Posted by: Gary & Vivian Jones (Friend) on: Dec 11, 2010
