CHARLES (CHUCK) GILBERT WILCOX After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Chuck passed away the evening of Friday, December 17th, 2010 at Riverview Health Centre, Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 66. He leaves to mourn, his mother, Daphne Wilcox (Winnipeg); his five children, Charles Trevor Wilcox, Robin Wilcox (Joelle), Tyler Wilcox, Michelle Wilcox (all from Winnipeg) and Tricia Wilcox (Red Deer, AB). Grandchildren Brayden and Abraham-Earl Wilcox (Docherty) of Red Deer, AB and Robin and James Wilcox of Winnipeg. Brother Richard Wilcox (Ross) of Dryden, ON and sister Susan Chenier (John) of Denver,CO. Chuck was born in Kenora, ON (January 7, 1944), raised in Kenora for his early years then moved to Winnipeg. He met and married Patricia Buechler of Portage La Prairie and was happily married for more than 20 years. Chuck operated and managed many food oriented businesses including Pat Chuck's Subs Plus in Unicity Mall and Pat Chuck's Restaurant in Kildonan Place Mall. He also ran the cafeteria for the Winnipeg Free Press as well as several canteens through the ANAF while operating a successful catering business throughout. He was involved in many groups and community programs and developed many lasting friendships in his life. In his last years, he gave back to the community by being a foster parent to many children in need. At the time of his passing, Chuck was surrounded by loving family and friends and found the serenity and peace of a fulfilled life. Chuck's funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Anglican Church (Woodhaven) at 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg on Wednesday, December 22nd at 2:00 p.m. with reception to follow in adjoining hall. He will be laid to rest at Thomson In the Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. Thanks go out to the staff at Grace Hospital, the Winnipeg HomeCare Team, CancerCare Centre of Manitoba and the Riverview Health Centre. Your care and compassion at this time is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chuck's memory to CancerCare Centre of Manitoba.
