Ray was born in Transcona, Manitoba October 6, 1928. He will be sadly missed by Shirley, his loving wife of 15 years; Evelyne (Phil) Gaudet, his daughter; Rennie (Sandra) Savoie and Greg (Bernadette) Savoie, his sons; and all of their children. Also left to cherish his memory are Aime (Ida) Savoie and Guy (Lea) Savoie, his brothers; Estelle (Tony) Possberg and Jacqueline Savoie, his sisters and all of their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Simone Savoie; his first wife, Lorraine (Paquin) and his brother, Roger. Ray attended Provencher Collegiate and Saint-Boniface College. As a young man he joined the CNR as a fireman and worked many part-time jobs to support his growing family. Later he became a sales rep for AMF, moved on to Canada Lafarge Cement and ended his career as a General Sales Manager for Westroc Industries. He was very proficient at everything he undertook. He planned and built his own home and large indoor swimming pool in Warren, and moving to Mesa in the early 1990s he added a large addition to his Park Model and completely renovated it to look like an adobe-style home. Sports fascinated him and he quickly mastered the ones he undertook. He was an exceptional hockey player, scouted by the pros in his junior hockey days. Fishing and duck hunting were a passion in younger years. Later he became an exceptional curler and golfer. In retirement Shirley and he relished their time together on the links, dancing, playing shuffleboard and darts, and especially, travelling the US and Canada in their motorhome. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Lung Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
