JULIA BIELAK Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Julia passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010. Left to cherish Julia's beautiful memory is Nicholas, her devoted husband of 59 years. Together they raised five children Ken (Dolores), Patricia, Eugene (fiancé Mary), Jerry (Barbara) and Teresa. Mom's greatest joy was being a loving Baba to Michael (fiancé Mika) of Pullman, Washington USA; Allison (fiancé Mark) of Canberra, Australia; Nicholas and Zachary. Julia was very proud of each of their accomplishments and took great interest in all of their endeavors and was looking forward to the upcoming weddings. Also mourning her loss is brother-in-law Myron (Judy) Bielak and family, her only brother Donald (Veronica) and family, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Julia was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Justyna (Romaniw) Matyszewski. Her greatest loss was the unexpected passing of her son Eugene on May 18, 2010. Julia was born on July 11, 1931 in Winnipeg, MB. She was raised and received her education in the Point Douglas area from which she had many fond memories and lifelong friends. Her love of music and involvement in the Ukrainian community began as a young girl while attending St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church. It was here that she met Nicholas and together began their lifelong devotion to family and the church community at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. Mom joined the Women's League (UCWLC) in 1959 and held several executive positions including Branch President. Julia was honoured to receive her 50-year pin in May 2009 and was instrumental in initiating the perogy committee as part of the church fund raising efforts, which continues to this day. Julia was very kind, loving and compassionate to all and will receive her angel wings this Christmas. Mom you will forever be in our hearts. Rosary will be said by the UCWLC at 6:30 p.m. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, (tonight) at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 23 also at the church with Fr. V. Bashutskyy officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nicholas, Zachary and Dan Bielak, Paul Klymkiw, Bill Duschak and Brad Richliwski. Special thank you to Dr. D. Haligowski, Dr. J. Moncek and the caring staff of Seven Oaks Hospital 5th floor, Unit 5, and the many Home Care workers over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations to the building fund of Blessed Virgin Mary Church are greatly appreciated. Silent night, holy night all is calm, all is bright Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child... sleep in Heavenly peace. Vichnaya Pamyat May her memory be Eternal KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
