Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFORBES ARCHIBALD MCRAE September 9, 1929 - December 21, 2010 With great sadness, we announce the passing of Forbes Archibald McRae of Grandview, Manitoba. Forbes passed away on December 21, 2010 at Grandview District Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Forbes is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth (nee Fossay) McRae of Grandview. Children, Marlene (Ray) Kostiuk of Benito, MB, Sandy and (Lyle) Fisher of Grandview, MB, Ron (Jo-Anne) McRae, Pam (Terry) Stead, and Pat Petrie, all of Winnipeg, MB. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother Cam McRae of Cremona, AB, brother-in-law Gordon Fossay of Headingley, and sister- in-law Bev Fossay of Starbuck. Forbes was born on the family farm near Carmen, Manitoba and later attended school in Carmen. Forbes was employed by Manitoba Hydro for 38 years and worked in various locations before settling in Grandview in 1959. He retired from the hydro in 1985. In 1972 Forbes and his wife Ruth built and operated the Park View Motel in Grandview where they met a great variety of people. Family was very important to Forbes and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Forbes was proud to be a member of the Masonic Lodge and Kartum Shrine Club. He also volunteered many years with the Fire Department, Legion and School Board. Forbes's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Grandview United Church. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial Gifts to honour Forbe's life may be made to the Transportation Fund, Khartum Temple, in care of Khartum Shrine Centre, 1155 Wilkes Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3P 1B9, or to a charity of one's choice.
