JOHN COOK February 21, 1938 - December 21, 2010 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Cook of Grand Rapids, Manitoba at 72 years of age. He leaves to mourn his son Kevin Cook (Amanda) of Peguis First Nation; his daughter Jennifer Cook of Winnipeg; Sharon Boulette (mother of his children); brother Solomon Cook; sisters Marie Olson (Oscar), Yvonne Cook (Franklin), Virginia Arthurson (Ralph), Dorothy Hutchinson (Dick), Marlyn Cook and Helen Armstrong (Garth); grandchildren, Jessica, Justine, Chastity, Lexis, Riley, Trenton, Kevin, Ava, John, Jake and great-grandson Luke. John had a large extended family and many friends too numerous to mention. John was predeceased by his daughter Myrna Beardy, parents Dan and Angelique Cook, brothers Norman, Russell, Walter and Danny, sisters Audrey Sinclair and Grace McLeod all of Grand Rapids. John was born and raised in Grand Rapids and started fishing on Lake Winnipeg as a young man. He worked for many years in various work sites across the province as a heavy equipment operator. He eventually moved to Winnipeg and made his home at the Northern Hotel. John had his personal demons that he struggled with most of his adult life but he was a kind person who enjoyed visiting with family and his many friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Wake services will be held 7:00 p.m. at the St. Alexander Catholic Hall, December 26 and 27, 2010, Grand Rapids, Manitoba. Funeral service will be held at the St. Alexander Catholic Hall at 1:00 p.m. on December 28, 2010 with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the St. James Anglican Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allan Cook, Sean Arthurson, Mike Hutchinson, Mark McLeod, John Sinclair, James Cox and John Armstrong. Honorary Pallbearers will be Solomon Cook, Clifford Mercredi, Don and Melinda Robinson, Alpheus Cook, Gene Sinclair, Pam Olson, Alaina Lague, Randy Lague and all the staff and his friends at the Northern Hotel.
