ROY SHYMANSKI It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, and friend, Roy Shymanski on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Roy will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his companion Annie Sokil, her family, Roy's son Michael (Anna) Shymanski, grandsons Nicholas and Andrew Shymanski, daughters Barb McDonald, Jackie Shymanski, and his many nieces, nephews and good friends. Roy was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary, his wife Monica, sister Anne McMillan, brother William, and his first grandson, Eric. Roy was born on the farm in what was rural St. James on April 13, 1941. As a teen, his family moved to Fraserwood where he eventually met and married his wife Monica. After returning to Winnipeg to raise their two children, Roy purchased an acreage, where he later built their family home. In 1970 he launched his trucking business, and worked round the clock to provide a good life for his young family. He encouraged their farming gene' by supporting a bantam chicken ranch, a pet pony and lots of dogs and cats. Roy loved starting projects, and over the years the yard filled with his many 'works in progress'. Roy enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating in watercraft seaworthy or not. His exploits earned him the nickname, Gigi with the boat', bestowed by his beloved grandsons and used by the entire family. Following the death of his wife, he returned to Fraserwood, where gardening proved a safer passion. Family dinners and a new blended family often gathered around the table at his country home, enjoying the harvest from the gardens he took great pride in. Despite deteriorating health over the last few years, Annie brought the outdoors inside to Roy, whether it was setting up a deer feeding station out the living room window, or growing tomato plants indoors in the middle of winter. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in support of the Fraserwood Hall, Box 95, Fraserwood, Manitoba, R0C 1A0. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, Manitoba, at 2:00 p.m. Glen Eden Funeral Home 338-7111
