Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCEZILIO FIGUEIREDO DE ALMEIDA Cezilio Figueiredo de Almeida, on December 25, 2010, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 after a long illness. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Maria Arlete Almeida of Ilhavo, Portugal, by his three daughters, Carissa, Nataline, and Raquel, sons-in-law Aldwin and Eric and many friends. He was predeceased by parents Elvira and Antonio of Gouveia, Portugal. Cezilio was born November 24, 1940 in Gouveia, Portugal. After training as a mechanical draftsman and working for the Gas and Hydro Company of Lisbon in his early 20s, he came to Canada in July 1966. He was the founder of the Portuguese Radio Program of Manitoba on CKJS 810 Radio and was the producer/director and host for 38 years (1968-2006). He was very active with Winnipeg's Portuguese community, serving the Portuguese Association of Manitoba in various roles, including Board Chairperson. He participated in Folklorama for many years and was the Mayor of the Portuguese Pavilion several times. In 1996 the City of Winnipeg recognized him for 25 years of Community Service. During his years as a real estate agent, he took his family on several beautiful trips to Portugal. Cezilio was an avid soccer fan and loved to play the Portuguese guitar. He especially enjoyed fado music and in his later years was thrilled to be able to sing and play his guitar with friends in front of an audience. He will be greatly missed for his humour and his energetic and independent spirit. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at River East Personal Care Home. Arrangements to follow. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
