OLGA ANNIE BRELAND (nee SOKOL) Peacefully surrounded by her sons, Olga passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Stanley (Gail), David (Karen), Arthur Jr. (Audrey); great-grandchild Roquelle; grand-children, Chelsea (Cecil), Vanessa, Whitney, Ryan; sister-in-law Blanche Powis, many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Mom was born on March 24, 1928 in Admiral, Saskatchewan to Alex (deceased 1965) and Rose (1929) Sokol. She was always grateful to her mother for giving her life, however, Olga's mother passed away prior to her first birthday leaving her father to raise his only child on the family farm. She was always very proud of her father for his commitment to her and she spoke of this many times to our family. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur (1998) and daughter Patricia (1997). Mom was married to our Dad for 48 years prior to his passing. After retirement they enjoyed many years driving south to Mazatlan Mexico for the winter months. Mom really enjoyed her winters in Mexico while summers were enjoyed at home in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved to walk and observe the country's nature of beautiful birds and wildlife. Mom kept in touch by writing to many friends, which were made over the years on their travels. The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Oakview Place extended care for the exceptional loving care they provided to our mother while she resided in her final years. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francois Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Father Isaie Blanchette O.M.I. presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olga's memory may be made to the St. Francois Xavier Parish Church building fund. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
