DORA (DORIS) WARKENTIN (nee GUENTHER) 1930 - 2010 After a short battle with cancer, Doris Warkentin of Morden, MB passed away on December 24, 2010 at Boundary Trails Health Centre. Doris was born to Abe and Helena (nee Sawatzky) Guenther on the farm near Gretna on March 24, 1930. She attended the Edenthal School until September of 1938 when the family moved to the Crystal City area. In the Crystal City area she attended the Eaton School. Upon confession of her faith in 1950, she was baptized in the Sommerfeld Church. George Loewen, a favourite uncle had been instrumental in this decision. On July 11, 1954 Doris married Walter Warkentin. After their marriage they settled on a farm three miles south of Morden. Their marriage was blessed with four sons. The first son died in infancy in January of 1956. Harv was born in August 1957. Glenn was born January 1961, and Alan in December of 1964. In October 1963, they moved from the Morden farm to a farm 10 miles south of Gladstone. It was here that they raised their family and farmed until their retirement in 1996 when they moved back to Morden. In October of 2001 they moved from their home to Oak West Estates. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Walter of Morden, three sons, Harv and Joanne of Morden, Alan and Michelle of Gladstone and Glenn Warkentin of Prince George, BC as well as five grandchildren, two sisters and four brothers. She was predeceased by a sister and a brother. Viewing will be today at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. A celebration of her life with family and friends will be held on December 29, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the EMM Church, 610 1st St. in Morden with interment to follow at Southside Cemetery.
