Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADAM JUCE It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Adam Joseph Juce on December 22, 2010 after a lengthy illness at the age of 88. Adam was born December 24, 1921 to Joseph and Anna (nee Mushumanski) at Rossburn, Manitoba. Adam grew up in and around the communities of Rossburn and Angusville with his parents and his brother and sisters. Adam received his teacher training in Winnipeg and started teaching in Rorketon, Manitoba where he taught all of the subjects in Grades 9, 10 and 11. On August 8, 1950, he married the love of his love, Mary Rehaluk, at the St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rorketon. After their marriage, Mary and Adam moved to Basswood where Adam was the school Principal and their first son Brian was born in 1955. They moved to Dauphin in 1957 where Adam taught at the D.C.T.I. and their second son David was born. When he first came to Dauphin, he taught Math, Science, and French, and went on to become the head of the Science Department at the D.R.C.S.S. until his retirement in 1981. In 1977 Queen Elizabeth honoured Adam with a medal for the work he did in Education. Adam was an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection, The Knights of Columbus, and the Dauphin Country Club. Adam had several hobbies. He enjoyed carpentry, reading, singing, playing the harmonica and listening to all types of music. Adam really enjoyed the outdoors from picking morels and berries to hunting and fishing. He especially liked listening to the calls of wild geese as they lifted off from some lake or pond. Adam was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed playing various sports from curling and fastball to bowling. The sport he enjoyed most was golf. Adam was a passionate golfer who not only had two holes in one to his credit, but he also won many tournaments and could shoot his age or better right up to the time of his illness. He shot his last par round of golf at the age of 76, at the Dauphin Golf Course. He is survived by his son Brian and wife Irmgard (Janzen) and their children Michael McEwen (Dawn Askin) and Andrea McEwen. Also surviving him are his son David and wife Karen (Bergner) and their children Michael, Marian and Eveline. Adam also has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers and sisters-in-law who will all mourn his passing. Adam was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna Juce, his sisters Nellie Stanchuk, Victoria Labba, Bertha Callins, Mary Russell, and his brother Mike. His beloved wife Mary passed away in March of 2009 after being his soul mate for almost 60 years. A Rosary for Adam will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at 6:30 p.m. followed by prayers at 7:00 p.m. in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin. Father Oleg Bodnarski will celebrate the funeral liturgy on Wednesday, December 29 at 10:30 a.m. from the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Dauphin. Cantor will be Ernie Sirski and Epistle readers will be Irmgard and Karen Juce. Pallbearers are Michael Juce, James Juce, Eugene Callins, John Pshebniski, David Rehaluk, and Howard Engel. Gus Powaschuk will be the Cross Bearer. Adam wanted to have all of his golfing, hunting, and fishing companions as well as his retired teaching and Knights of Columbus friends to be his Honorary Pallbearers If friends and family so desire, donations in Adam's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or the Dauphin Personal Care Home.
