Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE CAROLE SHAWARD (nee KEITH) With broken hearts, we announce Carole's passing on December 22, 2010 at the Selkirk General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her children Darryl (Carla), Christine Rempel (Ward) and Rick (Lauri) and family; grandchildren Christopher (Crystal), Trevor, David and Ryan and great-grandchild Jessica. She will also be dearly missed by her mother Ethel Keith; sister Jackie Baronins and brother Murray (Gerry) and their families and many, many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Arthur and her brother-in-law Bob Baronins. Carole was born in Selkirk on February 15, 1945 and lived most of her life there. After she was married, she lived in the States for a number of years where she looked after her growing family and made many lifelong friends. After returning to Canada, Carole joined the family business at Ethel's Flower Shop. She was known for her beautiful arrangements and had many clients who became friends. There was always someone stopping into the shop for a visit over a cup of coffee. Carole loved people so it was hard for her to retire early due to her health problems. Mom's main focus though was her family, both human and assorted furry and feathered adoptees. She loved having her family gather for large meals at holidays where there was always enough home cooked food to feed a small army. She doted on her grandchildren and loved to spoil them she truly believed in the saying If mom says no ask Grandma . She often babysat her grand-dogs Justice and Chili and knew where the biscuit jar was in each of her children's homes. She also fed any of the strays or wildlife that happened to wander into her yard. Stray dogs, cats, deer, racoons, rabbits, chipmunks and birds all found a meal at mom's and visited regularly. She was so loved and will be missed more than words can say. The family would like to thank the Home Care workers who allowed her to remain at home, Dr. Lindenschmidt, the nurses and the support staff at Selkirk General for their care and compassion. They supported us through Mom's last hospitalization and passing and we are forever grateful. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliot officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Carole loved flowers and wildlife so either flowers or donations to the Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre (Box 49, Glenlea, MB R0G 0S0) are welcome. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
