JOHN KOWALCHUK September 24, 1921 - December 25, 2010 It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of John, announce his peaceful passing with family at his side on December 25, 2010, in his 89th year at St. Boniface Hospital. John was born and raised in the Ukraine and after immigrating to Canada he pursued his dream of working in the food industry. Along with his wife Pat, they owned and operated three restaurants in the West End of Winnipeg, before settling in their current location in Transcona, where they celebrated 50 years there on December 9, 2010. Together they served and catered many patrons and events and developed friendships that have continued to grow right until his passing. John was predeceased by his parents Nellie and John, as well as two brothers and many relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed, but lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Pat, son John of Wisconsin, daughter Cindy and husband Jeff of Winnipeg, his grandchildren Jon, Patrick, Natashia and Britney, and his many relatives and friends. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. Interment to follow at the Garden of the Good Shepherd. If friends so desire, donations can be made in memory of John to charity of ones choice.
