Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE-ANGE CAYA (nee LAGASSE) It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Marie-Ange Caya (nee Lagassé), on Saturday, December 25, 2010. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jean-Paul Caya, on July 12, 1988; an infant son in 1965; her parents, Albert and Dorila Lagassé; and her brothers, Henri (Hazel) and Lionel (Margaret). She leaves to mourn her children and their families: Roger (Maggie) and his children, Mark (Brittany), Kelly (Aaron) and her daughter Zoe, and Jennifer; Claude (Michele) and his children, Jordyn and Kennedy; Denis (Jacqueline) and their children, David and Rachelle; and Aline (Andrew Tataryn) and their children, Taylor and Carlyn. She also leaves to mourn brothers, Roland (Denise), Emile (Giselle) and Paul (Lucille); and sisters, Claire (late-Conrad), Soeur Rolande and Thérèse (Leo) and their respective families. Also two foster-children, Arnold and MaryAnn Poitras, as well as close personal friend Clara Smith. Mom was born on June 26, 1931 in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. It was there she met the love of her life, Jean-Paul. They were married on June 3, 1959. They began their life together and eventually settled in St. Georges, MB. In addition to raising four children, Mom spent time as a nurse's aid and drove a school bus for the former Agassiz School district for many years. Family was everything to Mom. Many happy memories include working the family farm and going to the Morris Stampede in the summer, and snowmobile treks into the bush for family campfires in the winter. In recent years spending time with her many grandchildren was a great joy to her. Mémère's love was unconditional. Mom was also someone who was never content to sit still. An avid quilter, everyone in the family and beyond has benefited from her beautiful quilting and knitting hobbies. A strong, independent spirit, Mom never hesitated to drive on her own to Gravelbourg to visit family when the urge hit her. She will be missed greatly. Mass will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Parish, 315 Munroe Avenue in Winnipeg. A private interment with the immediate family will take place in the spring in St. Georges, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service and the staff at Concordia Hospital. Their efforts and compassionate service were deeply appreciated.
