She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Kjartan, her grandson Michael, siblings Emily, Joyce and Oscar, and in-laws Walter, Paul, Alice, Leonard, Einar, Leifur, Numi and Dora. Lillian leaves to mourn her children Ivan (Christina), Roger (Darlene), Lois, Wanda (Robin), Debbie (Morley), Dianne (Stanley), Brenda (Bradley); grandchildren Vanessa (Kevin), Amanda (Jordan), Kent (Gayle), Vince, Sheena (Blair), Sally, Keith (Sheryl), Bricey, Heather, Evan, Dayna (Brendan), Nicole, Adam (Pam), Derek, Jared, Aliya, Mitchell; and five great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings Inga, Robert (Gladys), Florence, Doris (Oli), Joan (Allen) and in-laws Vordis, Skafti (Norma), and Junius. Lillian was born on a farm in Framnes to Kate and Mundi Gudmundson. She attended Framnes and Arborg Schools, and worked at the Arborg Co-op and the Arborg Memorial Hospital before marrying Kjartan and moving to Geysir in 1952. She was a member of the Arborg Legion Women's Auxiliary, the Arborg Federated Ladies' Aid, and the Unitarian Camp Committee. Lillian's love of music started at an early age. Her childhood home was filled with song and dance. As well as singing, she played numerous instruments by ear. She performed with her sister, Inga, on CJOB Radio as a young girl, and later played accordion with a band called The Interlake Sisters. Her love of music carried on through the generations. She accompanied her daughters on the guitar at countless community functions. Not only did she enjoy performing; she loved to take part as a spectator at any musical gathering. Her trip to Nashville with her sisters was a highlight, where she was able to record a song. Lillian also loved to travel; two of her favourite trips were to Iceland and England, where she learned about her family roots. Visitors to Lillian's home were always welcomed with a smile and a table full of goodies. She took pride in her housekeeping and her yard. She had a special love for children and was generous to a fault. Lillian enjoyed a good joke and liked to have a good time with friends and family. The family would like to thank the Arborg Hospital, Palliative Care, and Home Care staff for their support throughout Lillian's lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Geysir Community Hall with a private burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Interlake Regional Health Authority - Northeast Palliative Care, Box 250, Gimli, Manitoba, R0C 1B0, or donations can be made at the door.
