Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY GRACE NICHOL June 26, 1917- December 29, 2010 Peacefully on December 29, 2010 our mother Lucy Grace Nichol passed away at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Grace was born on June 26, 1917 the third child of Charles and Harriet Smith in Treesbank, Manitoba. She spent her early years in Treesbank, Methven area. In 1938 she married her husband David and eventually moved to Transcona in 1947 where she spent the remainder of her life until moving to the Middlechurch Home in 2005. Home and family were the main focus of her life as her children were growing up and continued, switching her attention to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Grace was predeceased by her parents, husband, her son Russell, three sisters, two brothers and two stepbrothers. Left to cherish Mom's passing are her three sons Wally (Margaret), Garry (Wendy) and Douglas (Louella) two daughters Carol (Ian) Petrie and Lauretta (Brian) Kurz, 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two sisters Eva Rome and Connie Davis. Respecting Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of Lucy's life will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue, West at 11:00 a.m. Private family interment will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the caring and dedicated staff at the Middlechurch Home, especially the staff on North 2 for the care our mother received during her years there. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lucy's name to the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Rd., West St. Paul, MB R4A 4A6 or a charity of one's choice.
