Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNETTIE MARTENS (nee Wiebe) Peacefully on December 19, 2010 Nettie Martens, daughter of the late Peter Wiebe and Margaretha Krahn and former wife of Jake Martens, passed away at the age of 77. Nettie was born in Barkfield, Manitoba on July 22, 1933. Nettie's passion was flying and she took lessons as a co-pilot. She and her husband had a lot of fun flying around with their two seater plane. She worked at Tuxedo Villa as a Health Care Worker for 20 years. She really enjoyed assisting the elderly. After retirement, Nettie sang in the choir at Immanuel Pentecostal Church for eight years. She also volunteered at It's a New Day whenever she could, while battling cancer. She will be sadly missed by her son Dr. Lloyd Martens, sisters Minnie Wiebe and Margaret (Jake) Wiebe, brothers Bill (June) Wiebe and Jake (Ann) Wiebe, sister-in-law Agnes along with many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the Grace Hospice and Riverview Health Centre for their wonderful care. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Thursday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave., with Rev. Scott Bullerwell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home of the Good Shepherd.
