VICTORIA CUSTODIO VDA. DE BUENAVENTURA Victoria Custodio Vda. de Buenaventura passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 24, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband Zacarias; sons Macairog and Dante; brothers Angel, Arsenio, Bayani and Magtanggol; and sisters Severina, Pagasa and Dalisay. She is lovingly remembered by her children Makiling, Minerva, Ligaya, Gil and Aida; son-in-law Ramon and daughter-in-law Luz; grandchildren Enrique, Virgilio, Angeles (Sean), Noel, Loreli, Maryann and Michelle; great-grandchildren Raven, Haise, and Gabrielle. She also leaves behind her nephews Bayani Jr. (Ruby) and Manuel, and niece Lualhati; great-nieces Mesia (Kent) and Nena (James); great-grandnephews Isaac and Jun, and great-grandniece Zen. Victoria also has sisters in the Philippines - Luningning and Tagumpay, and many more relatives in Canada and around the world. Victoria was born on August 26, 1909 in Bataan, Philippines. She worked to ensure that all her children were educated in their chosen career paths, and encouraged each of them to pursue their altruistic and artistic endeavours. In 1972, she immigrated to Winnipeg. With an open heart, she welcomed countless newcomers into her family. While her wisdom and quiet grace inspired many, her strong patronage of the Philippine culture helped shape the local community, especially in guiding the young people of Magdaragat. Victoria's small stature belied the strength of will and character that had served her through 101 years. She was a woman whose faith guided her through the perils of the Second World War, widowhood, and starting over in a new country. Even at her age, she remained insatiably curious and never lost her thirst for knowledge. She continued to experience the world anew - living a long, colourful life filled with much love, creativity and wonder. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue with Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Green Acres Cemetery. Nanay, lalagi kang buhay sa aming puso at alaala Online condolences may be made at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
