LIONEL LECLAIR It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lionel Napoleon Hubert LeClair on December 28, 2010 with his daughter Jocelyne by his side. Survived by his children: daughter Leona LeClair (Poelvoorde); son Louis Leclair (wife Catherine); daughter Jocelyne LeClair (Michel) (husband Ray); son Thomas Leclair; son Danile Leclair (wife Lianne) and his goddaughter Tasha, also granddaughter. Dad has 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Rolly and many nieces and nephews. Leo is predeceased by son Charles LeClair and daughter Doreen LeClair (Cahoose). Dad will be sadly missed by his family and staff at the Tache Centre where he stayed for the past year and seven months. Dad was born on May 20, 1921 and spent much of his youth in an orphanage. He joined the army in 1941 and served in the Second World War. He was sent overseas and served in England, France, Belgium, Germany, Northwest Europe and Canada. Following his return in 1945 he made the military a career and served until 1964. After that he worked at the Health Sciences Centre, moved to British Columbia and worked at Vancouver General Hospital and then returned back to Winnipeg and worked at the Deer Lodge Hospital until his retirement in 1986. Dad was married on June 24, 1950 he had seven children and raised the three younger ones on his own. Dad will always be admired for his strength, great sense of humour, zest for life and we will miss him and his wonderful smile. Dad was very outgoing, he loved to make people laugh, as well as play bingo, take pictures and film movies on his movie camera. He also loved to travel; he travelled to British Columbia often with his long term relationship Ritia. The family would like to thank the staff at the Tache Centre for their support especially Terry Lyne, Marie, and Elen. Dad followed his twin brother Arthur who passed away on September 25, 2010. May the Lord be with them, love you always and we will all miss you. Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave. with Msgr. Ward Jamieson presiding.
