Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGAIL ELAINE OSTRUM (nee Hainsworth) It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful death of Gail Ostrum with her family by her side on December 29, 2010 following a lengthy illness. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Garth Ostrum, children Alan McQuay (Rose), Bruce McQuay (Carla), Colleen McQuay and Meghan Ostrum (Drew) as well as grandchildren Darcy, Allison, Joe, Abby, Jackson, Brett, Mathew, Charles and William. Gail is also survived by her mother Mary Beernaert, brothers Ken Hainsworth and Blayne Hainsworth, nieces and nephews; John, Shane, Devon, Alysha and Kendra (Hainsworth), and extended family Alejandra, Dominique, Nigest, Abdel, Joe and Nadine. Gail was predeceased by her father Keith Hainsworth. Gail was born and raised on the family farm in Mountainside and attended Mountainside School from grades 1-11 and grade 12 at Deloraine. Mom graduated from Grace Hospital Winnipeg in 1964, received her Diploma in 1984 for Extended Care Nursing and in 1994 received her BN from the University of Manitoba. Gail was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Deloraine. Mom enjoyed camping, waterskiing, cross country skiing, cooking and sharing food with family and friends and in the last few years gardening. Gail didn't travel abroad, but people from every continent ate at her table and she shared food with people in every Province. Mom enjoyed watching the children grow and bloom and becoming loving and caring adults. She was also very proud to have been called as a lay reader. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 830 North Drive in Fort Garry with Geoff Woodcroft, Jennifer Sisson and Nigel Packwood Presiding. Interment will take place at Thomson In the Park Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family wishes to thank Drs. Pintin, Lipschitz, Maxwell, Mare and the Oncology staff at the Victoria General Hospital as well as the Palliative Care Nurses for their care and compassion.
