KATHY ANNE WAKALUK It is with great sadness and love that we announce the passing of our little angel, daughter, sister, and aunt who left us peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the age of 39. Kathy was predeceased by her loving father Mike, grandparents Mike and Dora and Harold and Anne. Left to cherish her memory are her loving mother Diane; her siblings Michael (Marilyn); David (Cheryl); Steven (Lisa); Karen (Bobby); and Kim (Gilles); as well as her beloved nieces and nephews Connie, Jared, Janelle, Tyler, Breanne, Erin, and Hailey. Also left to mourn are her aunt and uncle, George and Margie Van Horne and their children Dean and Marlene. Kathy was born in Winnipeg on July 24, 1971 to Mike and Diane Wakaluk. The youngest of six children, she held a very special place in our devoted mother's heart; the two were inseparable. Our entire family bonded together to make every day special for Kathy. We were rewarded with smiles and laughter and humbled by a spirit that met every challenge with grace and courage. In her early years, Kathy attended St. Amant Centre where she enjoyed swimming and day programs. She loved riding her bike around the block, pedaling faster as she approached the familiarity of home, yet always eager to go further. She loved going to the neighbourhood park where her laughter could be heard for blocks as she swung high up into the open sky. She also loved going for car rides, especially to the family farm in Fisher Branch. Her family nickname was little bird'. Although small in stature, Kathy had a hearty appetite, a quest for adventure and a strong instinct to survive. She was a dearly loved innocent young women and an inspiration to all who knew her. We are truly blessed to have had Kathy in our lives and she is and inspiration to all, showing us that having love and joy is not about material things, but rather showing us the true meaning of Love and Joy is about Family and making the best out of the situation you are dealt. Kathy, Our Hearts are Broken With You Leaving Us, but we are comforted knowing you are now being held in the warm arms of Dad up in Heaven. The family would like to send a special thanks to all the wonderful compassionate people who cared for Kathy. Prayers will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Parish, 390 Marion Street. Funeral Services will be held in Fisher Branch, officiating: Stephanie Hyde and John Harper at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Fisherton Cemetery. Should family and friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to The Epilepsy and Seizure Association of Manitoba, 4 - 1805 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB, R2V 2A2.
