FRANK SALAVICH January 16, 1925 - December 27, 2010 Peacefully, after spending his final day with his daughters, Dad passed away at the Grace Hospital. He is survived by his daughters Linda (Ian), Susan (Don), son-in-law Doug, eight grandchildren Jared, Jenny, Jillian, Kelley, Melanie, Shelley, Donald, Amy, six great-grandchildren Colton, Carson, Norah, Myah, Nathaniel, Lucas (with number seven on the way) and numerous relatives and siblings in Regina, Calgary, Winnipeg and Russell. He was predeceased by his wife Edith in 1996 and his daughter Debbie in 2007. Dad was born and raised in Teulon, Manitoba. In October 1942 he enlisted in the army and served in the United Kingdom and Europe and was part of the second wave to land at Juno Beach. Near the end of the war, Dad was seriously wounded and spent months in hospitals in Europe followed by six months of rehabilitation at Deer Lodge Hospital in Winnipeg. Dad was very proud to have served his country during the Second World War and would gladly share his wartime experiences. After his release from Deer Lodge Dad took up the trade of bricklayer and stonemason. He was a lifelong member of the legion and held various positions within the Russell Branch No. 159. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff of Tower 7 at Deer Lodge Centre for taking such good care of our Dad for the last 14 months and also to the E.R. staff at the Grace Hospital. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church (Anglican) in Russell, Manitoba with Rev. Laura Marie Piotrowicz officiating. Funeral arrangements are in care of Braendle-Bruce Funeral Service in Russell, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ Church (Anglican) in Russell, Manitoba. Dad, you can rest now. You don't have to worry anymore.
