Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOMENICO (MICO) BARBON Born May 16, 1951, Spresiano, Treviso, Italy. Died December 8, 2010, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Beginning at the age of three, Mico demonstrated a stubborn streak by refusing to walk or do as he was told. This stubbornness served him well in life to set goals for him, surpass them and provide amply for his family. In later years as his health deteriorated and his illness altered his personality, he still remained extremely generous in heart and loved his family and friends deeply. We will love and miss him for an eternity. His family would like to create a library of your memories of Mico to share with future generations that missed his time on earth. These stories will be recorded for the children so that they may also know this wonderful, multi-faceted man. He wrote his own obituary, which we share with you. With his mother, Adelina and older brother Sergio, Mico followed his father, Joe, to Canada at the age of three, where they lived in New Westminster from 1954 until he joined the Canadian Navy in 1970. He completed basic training in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia and returned to the west coast in 1971. Mico served in the navy, both at sea and land based until 1981, when a disability forced early retirement. The family moved to Winnipeg to start a business that eventually leads him to working with London Life, where he became successful helping others succeed. He became ill in 1989 while working in Vancouver and asked for a transfer back to Winnipeg. In late 1990 he had to go on disability once more and this time for good until his death. According to wishes cremation has taken place and a get together has been arranged so relatives and friends can FINALLY!!!! (Mico's words) wish him a Bon Voyage. He will be missed by his Favourite Wife', best friend and fellow traveler, Lil, his two terrific sons Colin and Gary and their families Alexander and Heather, his Cool Mother' Adelina, his two brothers Sergio and Ron, and his Awesome' sister Gloria. Ciao bello. Tiamo A Sharing Stories Memorial will be held on January 8, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Dieppe Legion Hall located at 3600 DeVries Street. No donations, please. Flowers gratefully declined.
