IRMA ROSE BATTISTUZZI With sadness, the family announces the passing of Irma Rose Battistuzzi, at Vista Park Lodge on December 30, 2010. Irma was predeceased by her parents, husband Italo, and brothers Lou and Ben. She will be greatly missed by her children, Carole (John) Buccini, Robert, David (Stephanie), grandchildren Chris (Lisa), Rob (Joanne), Jeff (Allison), David, Jonathan, Carling, Alison and Kelly, her great-grandchildren Rocco, Sabrina, Russell, Molly, Julia, Evan and Kaden, sister Rose Glowach (Steve), sister-in-law Corrie Battistuzzi and her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Irma was born on October 14, 1921 in Winnipeg, the eldest of four children born to Alfred and Mary Montanti. She was an accomplished pianist, achieving numerous distinctions and awards including placing second in the Toronto Conservatory of Music national exams. She put her musical talent to work by teaching piano, accompanying vocalists and dance classes and for a time was employed in the music department at Eaton's. Irma met the love of her life, Italo, and the two were inseparable from that day forward. They married on March 22, 1943 and soon after moved to their home in St. Vital where they raised their family and remained for 53 years. They were married for 61 years until Italo's passing in 2004. Irma was a wonderful caring and giving mother and her family was everything to her. She was happiest when everyone was gathered together enjoying her cooking. Irma will be remembered for many special things, including her musical talent, sense of humour, contagious laugh, sense of style and religious faith. She was a kind and gentle soul and this defined her life. We will miss her. The family would like to thank the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their compassionate care, and family and friends who visited with Irma. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Christ The King Church, Lennox and St. Mary's Road. Interment will be held in Green Acres Memorial Gardens.
