SONDRA CORINNE MARTENS Passed away December 29, 2010 in St. Amant, Winnipeg her home at the age of 20 years. Sondra was born April 10, 1990 in the Women's Hospital, Winnipeg. Her life was full of ups and downs. As a baby she was the cutest, sweetest, tiniest, little thing. A very content baby looking back she was too content. At two and one-half months she began having seizures and this started a very difficult journey for us and especially her. Children's Hospital, Portage Clinic, Portage Emergency, Lab X-Ray and Dr. Peabody were weekly visits. Amidst all of this she was a joy to have around. She was absolutely beautiful no matter what she was doing. At the age of four years and a bit she moved to St. Amant, Winnipeg. This was a great move for her and she adapted well (as was her nature). The staff at St. Amant gave her a life as full as yours and mine, but on her level. On December 23, 2010 we went to see Sondy and to bring her, her Christmas presents. Cait was talking about maybe she should come home after the holidays, and she smiled from ear to ear. December 24, 2010 we got a call she was seizing and had a fever. This was nothing new for us or her. Then we got another call, she would not stop seizing. We all went in, her siblings, mom and dad and spent the evening with her. By the time we got there she was resting comfy and peaceful she looked pretty good. We thought she will rally she always does. On Wednesday, December 29, 2010 she passed away into Jesus' arms at 1:45 p.m. very peacefully with loved ones by her side. Predeceased by her great-grandma Wall, great-grandpa Penner and her uncle Kevin. She will be lovingly missed be her parents Danny and Lorrie; brothers Dylan and Danton; sister Caitlyn; grandparents Pete and Mary Martens and Herb and Hilda Driedger; great-grandmothers Kathrina Martens and Dora Penner; aunts, uncles and cousins: Judy and Dave Klassen, Dustin, Brendon and Kristyn; Robbie and Sharon, Jarren, Mathew, Jessie, AbbieLynn; Dorothy and Willie, Justin and Nathan; Caleb and Stephanie; Rhonda and Frank, Greg, Brittany and Jarred; Leona, Monica Vanessa, Trent and Tanner; Melinda and Jake, Keira, Brooke and Darwin. Viewing was held Saturday, January 1, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Clarke's Funeral Chapel, MacGregor. Funeral Service was held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacGregor Sommerfeld Church with Rev. John Unrau and Pastor Randy Fehr officiating. Interment followed in the Austin Sommerfeld Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Sondra's name to the St. Amant Centre, 440 River Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 2P6.
