Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN JACKSON Passed away December 25, 2010, in his 90th year at the St. Joseph's Health Centre in Guelph, Ont., after a brief illness. John was born in Pine River, Manitoba on April 10, 1921, the son of the late Paul and Magdelena (nee Metelski) Jakielaszek. He is survived by brothers Michael (Anne) of Vancouver and Albert of Winnipeg and sister Helen of Sudbury. Predeceased by sisters Kay of Redvers, Sask., Rose, Francis and Marie of Winnipeg and brother Adolph of Winnipeg. After leaving home, John enlisted in the Canadian Army where he served in various locations across Canada. After moving to Toronto in the early 1950s, John worked in the garment industry and helped organize workers into a union. In the 1960s, he became a real estate agent until his retirement in the 1980s. John moved to Guelph in 1993. His kind, fun-loving nature and sense of humour will be missed by his family, including many nephews and nieces, and by colleagues and friends who knew him during his years in Toronto.
