WIGON (BILL) RENKEWITZ It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Wigon (Bill) Renkewitz on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Wigon will be lovingly remembered by Violet, his wife of 60 years; daughter Janice Deck; brother-in-law Ed Walker; grandchildren, Martin and Kevin Deck, Meaghan (Brett) Danielson, and Jennifer Walker; his brother John (Dorothy); and sisters, Agnes Worster and Sylvia Langille; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Wigon was predeceased by his loving daughter, Barbara Walker in 2008. Wigon was born in Russia in 1923 and immigrated to Canada in 1927 with his family. He was raised and educated in Winnipeg. Wigon was a master carpenter whose career spanned well over 50 years! Building was his passion and he was renowned for his quality workmanship. Wigon worked extensively in residential and commercial construction throughout Winnipeg and Brandon. He also spent several years crossing the Dew Line in the high Arctic undertaking maintenance projects that afforded him many unique and exciting adventures! Wigon was dedicated to his loving wife and family. Being involved in family gatherings gave him the greatest happiness. He was also a very generous man who freely gave of his time to assist friends and family in time of need. Wigon will be remembered for his capacity to work hard, his love of live, his interest in politics, his knowledge as a war historian, and the wonderful stories he told. A special thanks to Dr. Mahjaraj and all the staff at Deer Lodge Centre for their loving care and support. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Living Hope, 235 Enniskillen Ave. (West Kildonan) Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., graciously officiated by Pastor Fred Sebastian.
