Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE MABEL ARTHUR (nee MCKAGUE) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, a woman of great integrity and loyalty, at Nanaimo Seniors Village on December 17, 2010. She was predeceased by her husband James Fraser Arthur in 1992 and by her brothers Ernest and Walter McKague. Marjorie is survived by her three loving children Joan Hunting (Roger), Kathleen Arthur, and James Arthur; her grandchildren Jonathan and Shannon Hunting and Jasper Arthur and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved us all so dearly. Marjorie was born in 1918 and raised in Winnipeg attending Earl Grey and Kelvin Schools. During the Second World War she worked for the R.C.M.P. in Ottawa. In June of 1943 she married James Fraser Arthur. Marjorie was involved with the United Church of Canada for most of her life and was a member of Gordon-King Memorial United Church for over 50 years. She was proud member of Unit 6 - the girls . Marjorie devoted many years of her life to the Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) both as a leader and as superintendent at Gordon-King Memorial United Church. She always tried to live up to the creed of the CGIT to cherish health, seek truth, know God and serve others . She was also involved for many years with the CGIT Camp Brereton and she remembered with fondness the years of walking from the train to the camp for annual work parties. Marjorie enjoyed travelling and particularly enjoyed her visits to the British Isles, Norway and New Zealand. She had a great love of music and found joy in playing the piano, especially for hymn sings. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of Nanaimo Seniors Village who found their days lightened by her sense of humour. Our mother is now at peace and will watch over us as always. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6th, at Gordon-King Memorial United Church, 127 Cobourg Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Elevator access is available at the side entrance. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Gordon-King Memorial United Church or to the charity of your choice.
