Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD RUSSELL HOLLAND October 6, 1931 - January 3, 2011 On January 3, 2011, long time Salvationist, Russell Holland was promoted to glory. At Oakview Extended Care, with family present at his side, Russell passed away after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. He was predeceased by his Mother and Father, John and Ada Holland. He is survived by his loving wife Betty; son Russell (Judy); daughters Barb (Art) and Ruth (Ron); grandchildren Pam, Daralee (Cameron), Melissa (Corrie), Gordon (Cassandra), Jennifer (Chad); great-grandchildren Madison, Charlie and Adrianna; brother Ray (Etta), along with countless other family and friends who were blessed to know him. Russell was born in Toronto and raised in Nova Scotia where he was a coal miner until 1967 when he moved to Winnipeg and worked for the City of Winnipeg for several years before retiring from Standard Aero in 1994. Russell loved camping, traveling, but his biggest passion was music and playing the soprano cornet as a member of the Salvation Army Corps Band for over 50 years. Nothing brought a bigger smile to this quiet gentleman's face than his family, his cornet or a good loaf of bread. At this time Russell's family would like to thank the staff of 1 East at Oakview Extended Care for all their kindness, care and support. The service will be held at Heritage Park Temple (825 School Road) on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heritage Park Salvation Army or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for though art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Gone but will never be forgotten.
