EDITH MAE LANGDON (nee Hodgson) On Saturday, January 1, 2011 at West Park Manor, Edith Mae Langdon, 84 years of age, dearly beloved wife of David George (Bud) Langdon of Winnipeg passed away. Besides her husband Bud, Mae leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters, Sylvia Grace (Paul Gunn) of Charlottetown, PE and Dorothy Carol (David Moffatt) of Port Coquitlam, BC and her two sons, David Earl (Lynn) of Winnipeg and William James (Emily) of Winnipeg. Also surviving are her sisters, Beatrice Nicholson of Saskatoon and Dorothy Tjaden of Winnipeg, her brother Robert Hodgson of Roland and her brothers-in-law Don McArthur of Winnipeg and Bill Langdon (Doreen) of Winnipeg, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Dot Hodgson, sister Jean McArthur, sister-in-law Ann McCaugherty, brothers-in-law Irvine McCaugherty, Ray Nicholson and Jim Tjaden. Mae was born and educated in the Roland Community. After receiving her Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg, she taught in Dominion City and Dauphin before marrying Bud in 1950. As an airman's wife, Mae established homes and worked as a substitute teacher in many different locations across Canada before enjoying a much cherished posting in Marville, France. Upon returning from Europe in 1967 to Chatham, NB, Mae accepted a full time teaching position. The family's final posting was back to Winnipeg (their home province) in 1970 and at that time Mae was employed with Sears. Mae loved many things; painting, writing, reading, music, dancing, nature in all forms, conversation and people in general. But most of all Mae loved family. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the West Park Manor Palliative Care Unit, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3R 1X2, Parkinson Society Canada, 316 - 4211 Yonge St., Toronto, ON, M2P 2A9 or Alcoholics Anonymous MB Central Office, 208-323 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2C1. A memorial service will be held in the Heritage Room of Lindenwood Manor, 475 Lindenwood Dr. E., on Thursday, January 6 at 2:00 p.m. Mae will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in the spring.
