BERNICE BAYER (nee ROCHON) Peacefully, with family at her side, Bernice passed away January 3, 2011 at the Grace Hospice at the age of 73 years. Left to cherish Bernice's memory are her son Gérald (Jocelyne); daughter Janet (Ron); grandchildren, Eric, Martin and Alain; her sister Aline Grouette (Alain); her brother-in-law Robert (Mariette) Bayer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dad, Dick Bayer, recently predeceased Mom. Mom grew up in a loving family in La Salle, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg with her sister Aline after school. Mom went out on a New Year's Eve date with a young man from St. Boniface, named Dick Bayer. Bernice and Dick were married a year and a half later and moved to St. Boniface after a couple of years in La Salle. They had a long and happy marriage. She worked at the information desk at both St. Boniface Hospital and St. Boniface Family Medical Centre for many years. Mom also volunteered at the St. Boniface Hospital, and had recently received her 25-year volunteer pin. When she retired, Mom was an avid gardener and took pride in her herbs and plants. Mom and Dad had many friends and often had parties and danced the night away. She loved her family and enjoyed the lively discussions that we had over the numerous Sunday dinners they hosted. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview 3E Palliative Care and Grace Hospice for their care. Also, a sincere thanks to all her friends for their support through cards, calls and visits throughout this journey. Mom's gentle spirit, attitude and determination through her final months will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
