JACQUELINE LIETTE PRENTICE It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our wife and mother, Jacqueline Liette Prentice, (nee Royal), on January 4, 2011. Jackie was predeceased by her mother Catherine, father Joseph and brother Tom. Jackie will be forever missed by her husband of 35 years, Tom, children Matthew (Shannon) and Daniel, mother-in-law Bertha, sister Nicole (Ian), brothers Joe (Linda) and Mark (Avis), sister-in-law Wendy (Bruce), brother-in-law Wayne (Sandy), new in-laws Cathy and Derek Falconer as well as many nieces and nephews who also were part of her life. Jackie grew up in Norwood Flats, attended Precious Blood School, Nordale and Nelson McIntyre Collegiate where she excelled both as a student as well being the Varsity Female athlete of her graduation year. Jackie went on to the University of Winnipeg where she graduated in 1975 with an honours degree in Psychology, as well playing varsity volleyball for three years. It was in her first year at the University of Winnipeg that Mom met Dad and they were together for almost 40 years. After graduation Jackie began a career with the province where she worked in three areas, The Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage, the Office of Residential Care and Licensing and most recently in the Department of Health and the Cross Department Coordination Initiative where she was instrumental in the role out of a Government program for an Aging in Place Strategy for seniors. Jackie took 14 years off from her career to stay at home with her two sons during their growing years. Jackie's other interests included anything to do with her boys, the lake, and out-fishing everyone in the boat, throwing wonderful pottery, annual ski vacations, paddling in her pool and most recently a certain snorkeling area in Kauii. If we are truly measured by the love we gave in our lives, then baby you did just fine. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at CancerCare, the Pain Clinic and the caring staff of the Palliative Care Ward at St. Boniface Hospital. A memorial will be held at Thomson In the Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu flowers, donations can be made in Jackie's name to CancerCare Manitoba or to a charity of your choice.
