EUGENE CONRAD LOFTO 1927 - 2011 With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Gene on January 4, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years Joan, brother Donald (Jane), sisters-in- law Frances Lofto, Betty Milne and Teryl (Frank) Wade, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents Elner and Kay Lofto, brothers, George and Dennis and brother- in- law Stuart Milne. Gene was born in Dacotah, Manitoba on September 19, 1927 and was married to Joan Johnston on July 5, 1951. They resided there for 50 years farming. He worked as a motor grader operator, did logging at Thunder Bay and construction in Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. They moved to Kelowna, BC in 1979 till 2006 when they moved back to reside in Winnipeg. Gene had many interests which included golfing, boating, reading and travelling. He was a member of the Starbuck Lodge #160 and Kelowna St. George's Lodge #41. He was Past Master of the Starbuck Lodge and drove the Masonic Cancer Car in Kelowna for eight years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Starbuck Trinity Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment at a later date.
