VERNA TRACY LAWRIE (nee JONAT) Peacefully on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Holy Family Home, Tracy Lawrie passed away at the age of 87. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Patricia (Jack), son John, stepson Neil, granddaughters Shauna (Paul) and Kirsten (Clay), great-grandchildren Kari, Eric, Josh and Carli, cousin Aggie (Anges) Effa, and good friends Gerard and Cora Duffy and Ron Sandelovich. Mom was predeceased by her husband John on March 3, 1996, parents Ralph and Natalia Jonat, brother Wilfred and sister Alvera. Mom was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on October 11, 1923. She moved to Winnipeg in her early twenties where she began her career as an executive secretary. She worked for many years at Bird Construction where she met her husband John Lawrie. Mom and John enjoyed a long and wonderful life together, travelling to many exotic places and sailing on Lake of the Woods in the summer months. Some of mom's passions included painting and sketching, playing the piano, and cooking great meals for family and friends. Mom was a loving and caring person and she will be dearly missed by many. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 10 at 2:00 pm at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard with Reverend Canon Donna Joy presiding. A special thank you to all the staff at Holy Family Home for the loving care they gave her.
