LUCE TERESA MARIE SHAW October 10, 1926 - January 4, 2011 Peacefully with her family at her side Luce passed away at the age of 84. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Marie (Klaus) Frankenberger, Jacqueline (Tim Warkentine), Linda (Wayne Ludman), Kathy (Brian Walker), sons Robert (Karen), and Leonard (Kathy), sister RoseMarie (Lawrence) Kolybabi, grandchildren, Jeff, Mark, Kevin, Danny, Brian, Crystal, Justin, Angelique, Laurelle, Danielle, Cody and Troy. She also had nine great-grandchildren and was looking forward to having another little one this coming May. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bob in 1982, her parents August and Rita, and her three younger brothers, Lucien, Reggie, and Donald. Luce was born in the small French community of Laurier, MB, and moved to Transcona as a child. This is where she was schooled, married, raised her family and resided until her passing. Mom was very proud of her French and Metis heritage. After dads passing mom spent many years as a volunteer at St. Boniface Hospital. This gave her the opportunity to use her French and to meet many wonderful people. Luce loved to read, walk, and dine out, but her greatest joy was chocolate. She always had a large stash of chocolate at her house, which she was very reluctant to share with anyone. When mom was no longer able to live alone she moved in with her daughter Linda, who took excellent care of her and managed to get her off insulin within a few weeks of living with her. Mom was happy to be living with family again. In 2008 Luce moved into Park Manor Personal Care Home. She loved the staff there and they all loved her. You could often find them teasing and joking around together. Mom never lost her great sense of humour. Mom enjoyed a wonderful Christmas season with family. We will always cherish our times spent together. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Park Manor who provided excellent care for our mother. When she took sick five days before passing, they made sure she was always comfortable and kept the family informed at all times. Everyone working, whether they were caring for mom during this time or not came in to say their good-byes. Mom was loved by all those who met her. A very special thank you to Father Roland Lanoie who came out Sunday evening to visit and provide comfort to Luce and her family. Mom was so excited to see you. She was very much at peace after your visit. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funereal Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 7 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Park Manor Building Fund or a charity of your choice. FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS IN CARE OF: WHEELER FUNERAL CHAPEL 211 REGENT AVENUE WEST AT BOND ST. 224-1525
