Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCIS (FRANK) EDWARD LAZINSKI March 29, 1929 January 3, 2011 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Uncle and Friend to so many. Frank was predeceased by his parents and his only brother Robert as well as his most trusted companion, Quincy (shih tzu). He is survived and will be immensely missed by his loving wife Germain (Gerri) of 58 years, his four sons Raymond, Douglas, Bruce, Christopher Lazinski; his two daughters Patricia Witzell and Kathleen Jones; his precious grandchildren, Glenn and Jennifer Lagimodiere-Wiebe, James Lazinski, Jeffrey and Michael Witzell; his great-grandchildren Torrin Lagimodiere-Wiebe and Lyla-Star Lagimodiere, and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was born and grew up in the former city of Fort William, now Thunder Bay, Ontario. He attended St. Stanislaus School and was hired at the Canadian Pacific Railroad Company at the age of 15. At the age of 21, he met and fell in love with Gerri, then two years later they married and started their beautiful family. His family followed him back and forth across the breadth of Canada four times. He continued to travel extensively with his job from 1957 through 1986 when he retired in the position of Supervisor, Customer Service Center, Eastern Canada, completing 48 highly honoured and merited years of service. Frank was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Timothy's Council #10246. He was among the first to belong to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Timothy's Parish in Winnipeg, MB, but he set the standard for Faithfulness of Service by his ongoing church activity wherever he and his family lived. Frank's favourite pastimes were fishing and hunting, but his pride and joy was building, remodelling and decorating their many homes. A lasting jewel exists today in the form of their cottage in Lac Des Miles Lac (Ontario), where he and Gerri cleared land to construct their dream from the ground up. Frank and Gerri spent many years camping across Canada and down into the United States. They very much enjoyed their winters in Mesa, Arizona, and the summers at Lac Des Miles Lac. Frank was know for an incredible dry, quirky sense of humour which successfully charmed all who knew him. He displayed remarkable courage and strength through the last 15 years of his battle with cancer, remaining positive and encouraged to the end. A special thank you to the staff on 5 South at Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion during his seven week stay. With deepest gratitude we give a very special thanks to the staff and residents of The Grace Hospice, who unconditionally welcomed Frank into their loving little family where he happily spent the final six weeks of his valiant battle. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2011 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd., Winnipeg, R2N 1R3, Phone 204-949-3760. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Vincent De Paul, or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba would be appreciated. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
