GEORGIA PURDY It is with sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Georgia Helen Purdy (nee Croft) at the age of 72 on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit, after a courageous battle with cancer. Georgia is survived by Warren her loving husband of 50 years, her son Alan (Norma), daughter Karen (Carver Farrell), sister Brenda Vopni, and brother-in-law Bruce Purdy (Donna Thain). She will be remembered by her grandchildren, A.J. and Paige Purdy, and Anika and Ian Farrell, and many nieces and nephews. Georgia had a passion for quilting, enjoyed her summers at Victoria Beach, and kept active golfing, curling, and line dancing. She had a full career as a teacher in the St. James School Division, and in retirement she and Warren took to travelling the world. The Girls' Club group of friends shared life and loves for over 65 years. The family would like to thank the supportive staff in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for their kind and loving care of Georgia during her time there. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., to be followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, or to a charity of one's choice. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
