Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELINOR YOUNG (HOPPER) November 8, 1921 - December 24, 2010 Elinor passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years. She was recently predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Hume Blake Young. Elinor is survived by her six children Donald (Robin), David (Nancy), Jane, Doug (Marian), Andy (Vicki) and Nancy (Michael); 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Elinor was born and raised in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by parents, Professor Clark and Eunice (Cuthbert) Hopper, and by her brother, Cuthbert (Joe) Hopper. Elinor graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1942 with a Bachelor of Home Economics (Lady Stick), where she excelled academically and in athletics. We are grateful to mom for the many years of love and commitment she devoted to our family. Her patience, good nature and sense of humour were some of her endearing traits; she was very down to earth, and not one to complain or boast. Mom's interests included reading, painting, and bridge; she enjoyed music and sang in a choir in Tucson; in earlier years mom played the piano. After retirement, mom along with dad enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Mom was intelligent, well read, kind, respected and loved by her family and friends. The family would like to thank the caring people who helped mom at the Poseidon Care Centre and the Victoria General Hospital. A funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Epilepsy Canada. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
